BRIGHTPOINT LITERACY LAUNCHES GRAPHIC POETRY SERIES IN THE UNITED STATES
October 6, 2009
SADDLE BROOK, NJ - Rubicon Publishing’s Graphic Poetry series is now being released in the United States by Brightpoint Literacy. Brightpoint will be launching the 16-title series in October 2009, with a new title exclusive to the US market – “Paul Revere’s Ride.”
Rubicon Publishing, a leader in the creation of graphic novels for education, forged a unique combination of renowned poetry and striking artwork in the popular graphic novel format. Some of the poets featured in the series include Maya Angelou, Margaret Atwood, Gary Soto and Joni Mitchell.
“We are looking forward to the introduction in Fall 2009 of Graphic Poetry into our middle school collection,” said Lynne Naylor, Director of Product Management at Brightpoint. “We are confident that teachers will find Graphic Poetry an essential and engaging resource for teaching poetry.”
Graphic Poetry is the latest example of how the wildly popular graphic novel format is being used to help enhance the learning experience in schools. In addition to the striking artwork, each book highlights a specific poetic device, such as meter, personification and imagery, creating an accessible means for students to experience poetry, and a unique way for teachers to stir up some enthusiasm for this often-dreaded genre.
