June 9, 2009
WHITBY, ON – Even though it has been several years since he has taught in a classroom, Rubicon author and retired teacher Robert Cutting has been busy immersing himself in school life. Cutting recently shared his wealth of experience as an author and storywriter with more than 200 grade 6, 7 and 8 students in Whitby, Ontario through a workshop on the process of creating a story.
Cutting, who has written many successful books for Rubicon, said of the event, “Using my own graphic novels from the Timeline series, I led the students through the process of creating a graphic story – from the initial ideas to the finished product. Their enthusiasm at seeing the books evolve from rough sketches to a published book was amazing!”
Cutting also recently attended two major workshops for the Durham District School Board, a Gifted Conference and a Special Education Conference. On both occasions, Cutting’s topic for discussion was “Practically Created,” where he examined the concept of creativity from many angles. Cutting’s workshops were met with great enthusiasm from educators who were eager for more information on his publications.
Robert Cutting has authored books in many of Rubicon Publishing’s series, including TIMELINE, BOLDPRINT and THE 10. He is currently working on two books for the BOLDPRINT Talk series, also from Rubicon Publishing.
