K–9

Introducing MathUP Practise and Reflect — the consumable student books designed to complement the MathUP Classroom digital platform developed by Marian Small. MathUP Practise and Reflect is the print component that you — MathUP Classroom educators — have been asking for. Along with MathUP Student, the books are a flexible and convenient option for teachers to share student-facing content with their class.

The Practise and Reflect series focuses on student practice and reflection, providing an opportunity for students to see their own learning progress. With sufficient white space provided for students to record their answers and solutions, the student books are designed to mirror the content found in the digital platform as much as possible, including technical art and images that support understanding in math.

The student book series is available:

  • In English and French in Ontario for Grades 1–6. The Ontario editions also cover grade 7–9 in English only.
  • National Editions for Grades 1–8 in both English and French.

Just like MathUP Classroom, the student books are tailored to meet student needs. For instance:

  • Grades 1 and 2 Practise and Reflect books include assessment for learning and independent activities, with a self-assessment page that reminds students of their learning goals and gives them an opportunity to reflect on and show their learning in a personal way.
  • Grades 3 to 6 Practise and Reflect books include Your Turn questions for each lesson to help students practise and apply their learning, with a self-assessment page to remind them of the learning goal and assess their own progress.

MathUP Practise and Reflect provide parents and guardians with greater visibility into their child’s work in mathematics. Students will have the opportunity to reflect on their learning progress and record their answers and solutions in a clear and concise manner using the visual elements of the student books.

If you’re looking for a simple, manageable, and affordable way to supplement your digital learning environment, sign up to receive more information about MathUP Practise and Reflect. With MathUP Practise and Reflect, students can gain a deeper understanding of mathematics while learning at their own pace — and have a physical space to show their work in.
