Numeracy Readiness Checks

Written by Marian Small to supplement MathUP Classroom, the Numeracy Readiness Checks are flexible assessments that offer Grades 1–9 educators key insights into students’ numeracy skills and understanding. The assessments check the most vital prerequisites to provide teachers with a sense of students’ readiness.

Numeracy Readiness Checks

The Numeracy Readiness Checks support teachers by

  • Assessing the most vital prerequisites to give teachers useful and valid information
  • Assessing concepts and skill knowledge to ensure teachers have a comprehensive picture
  • Including a scoring guide and tracking sheet for teachers to assess levels of knowledge and comprehension, with some data visualization
  • Providing teachers with targeted support ideas and links to relevant supports in MathUP Classroom.

Educators access the Numeracy Readiness Checks online and deliver them to students as:

  • Printable assessments that focus on numeracy (Grades 2 to 9), with some attention to algebra in Grades 7 to 9
