The Numeracy Readiness
The Numeracy Readiness Checks support teachers by
- Assessing the most vital prerequisites to give teachers useful and valid information
- Assessing concepts and skill knowledge to ensure teachers have a comprehensive picture
- Including a scoring guide and tracking sheet for teachers to assess levels of knowledge and comprehension, with some data visualization
- Providing teachers with targeted support ideas and links to relevant supports in MathUP Classroom.
Educators access the Numeracy Readiness Checks online and deliver them to students as
- Printable assessments that focus on numeracy (Grades 2 to 9), with some attention to algebra in Grades 7 to 9
- Short individual interviews focusing on numeracy in Grade 1.

Snapshot: Use this set of 10 to 15 questions early in the year to get a sense of students' numeracy readiness.

Deeper Dive: Use these sets of questions throughout the year, prior to instruction on a particular topic.

Scoring Guides and Tracking Sheets: The scoring guides provide sample answers and notes to help teachers score. Record scores in the tracking sheets to help you see class trends.
