In this session, you’ll explore how to build background knowledge, teach vocabulary in context, and support students in strategic reading to engage with and learn from texts. You’ll see how connected texts can help primary students make connections, deepen understanding, and grow their language comprehension.

Gina Marion has been an educator for over 30 years, working as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, consultant and coordinator in K–8 literacy, the Early Years and Assessment, Evaluation and Reporting. She combines a love of literacy with a dedication to equity, student identity, emotional regulation, and joyful learning, and has shared her knowledge with educators through workshops and presentations.
